please not the hammer! ...with new rubber straps you want to clear the way for the tube 1st by running a paper clip through it a few times to remove any excess rubber in there...this also helps to keep the long tube clear of any matter that may clog the threaded hole as well when installing the strap....the holes on most rubber straps fit tight and I have found by "lubing the tube" with vaseline or something along that line will help glide it through easier! :D...hope this helps ....

I actually did run a paper-clip through both lug holes:).  The problem was the one hole (11 o'clock side) was super tight, no matter what I did.  Putting the tube in the other side (1 o'clock) was fine, but when it got to the 11 o'clock side it wouldn't go in, so the screw couldn't reach it.  I had to go in from the hard side first.  Just to get it through the hole, which I had cleaned out, I had to gently tap the lug tube with a hammer.  I covered the head with some cloth and held the watch in my hand to absorb the shock.

Anyway, after the tube got about a 1/4 of a way in, it loosened up and the tube slid the rest of the way easily.

Anyway, it's in now, and there it will stay unless that leather is absolutely awesome (which I'm pretty sure it will be!:P)
