THe talk about the Swiss watch ind. got me thinking.  I know some may poo poo this but I have 2 Louis Bolle's that I am totally happy with.  Dont get me wrong, I am not comparing to Swiss, would be like apples and oranges (for now).  I did a search and saw some of you own LB's.  I think for the money, the fit and finish is excellent and havent had any trouble yet.  Both are autos. I would admit that for now, I would think  long and hard before dropping large bucks i.e a Swiss watch, to buy an Asian.  I think for now I got more value than what I paid for my LB's.  I was upset to see SAH doesnt carry them anymore as there was a couple of others I would like to have.  This is all of course, just my humble (and maybe crazy) opinion.  :) Scott

Scott,

Beautiful watch and never worry about posting up any timepiece. Each has their merits. The retrograde complication of that watch in an automatic  for the $$ is incredible

I've got a few chinese movement watches around here and as long as they are asembled in a clean environment by qualified people there is nothing wrong with what they are producing. The only major flaw I can find with this latest generation of Chinese movements is that they are copies of hundred year old swiss designs that are simply outdated.
It's just not possible to get those older designs to run as well as modern movements without a lot of added expense. When China starts to improve on the 2824 and 7750 movements then this conversation is going to become very interesting.

I have been watching the China 7750 copies and every generation gets better and they are even starting to improve on the design.

I admit that being new to watch collecting I do not know the intricacies of the industry.  I do agree that the future will be interesting.  As Chinas economy continues to grow and the Chinese Individual gains wealth, they will be looking to spend some of that money on items such as luxury watches.  If the Chinese manufacturers want to be a part of what will be a huge market, they will have to have quality comparable to the Swiss.  I think this will cause the Swiss to rethink what they are doing.  I think it will also open up new possibilities to us watch collectors.  I think the Swiss may be shooting themselves in the foot as many will no longer be able to afford their timepieces and will be looking to the Asian marketplace.  Kind of like how the price of oil is pushing us to find alternative fuels.  The oil industry may be pricing themselves out of the market.  Unless, they do like they did in the 80's when opec saw the US getting serious about producing our own oil and flooded the market so it would no longer be profitable to drill in the US.  This same scenario may play out in the watch industry if the Asian products become a true threat to the Swiss.  Just my opinion again.  Scott
