Ok guys. Well i'm having some difficulty on deciding either to get an Oris Diver or the Marathon J-SAR. So i'm looking for some help and guidance. For the price of the J-SAR i can get the watch for $425 and the stainless steel band for $125 which i think is a great deal. The problem I'm having though is you can also get an Oris for the same price. Meaning by the time you calculate getting everything for the J-SAR just under $700. Hmmmm, I thought that I was convinced on the J-sar but looks like not yet. Any thoughts or suggestions???? Thank you. Justin

The budget calls for only one watch right now. Both would be nice but not at this time. Usually I like to get a watch every 6 months in reason.

I've looked at the Marathon watches several times and always seem to go another direction. They they do look very cool. I have a Oris TT1 300M and I love it. ;)

I vote for the Oris depending on the movement it has.

quartz or automatic, and case size. I like them both. a oris tt1 can be had in ss or ti, on bracelet and get the divers kit for under a grand. black, blue or full lume dial. so far I have seen the eta 2824 in the full lume version and the sw200 in the black and blue versions. the jsar is huge. from what I've seen from other forums, people are pretty happy with it on the bracelet.

The JSAR is definitely "hotter" at the moment. An Oris can be had on the secondary market cheaper though. Tough call.

I've owned an Oris TT1 and a Marathon GSAR. Both are very cool watches. The Oris was much nicer, in my opinion. It just had a higher level fit and finish and just felt like a more upscale watch. However, if what you're going for is the "ultimate tool watch" it's hard to beat the Marathon. It is a solid watch with a monster bezel and the bracelet is quite nice. It does kind of bug me that while all other hands and dial markers are tritium tubes, the second hand is Superluminova and gets lost in the dark after a while. The only downside to Oris, IMHO, is that they don't hold their value that well. I took a pretty good loss on both Oris' I sold. However, that works out in your favor if you're buying used! ;) Last edited on Wed Mar 5th, 2008 11:21 am by captobvious |

Well so far I thank everyones opinion. This was the watch I was thinking from Oris: Oris-TT1-Mens-Watch Stainless steel case and bracelet. Blue dial. Date displays at 6 o'clock position. Unidirectional rotating bezel. Scratch resistant sapphire crystal. Case diameter 44mm. Automatic movement. Water resistant at 300 meters (1000 feet). Attachment: oris.gif (Downloaded 172 times)
