Hi guys, I am wondering if I unscrew the crown mostly everyday for things like resetting time or winding a watch, will it cause damage on my MKII and Boschett? I really don't wear my Boschett that often right now because it is my new baby and I don't want to scratch it so I find it dead after work (I am a custodian in the summers BTW) a lot so I reset it and wind it. How often do you guys play with the crown? If I pull out the crown to set the time and the hour hand moves slightly while I pull it out is that bad? Should I just leave my Boschett unwinded and just reset it when I use it? My MKII Blackwater sometimes the crown gets stiff and I have to play with it to screw in nicely, that's not good is it? Sorry for all the questions, I am a newby with auto's and screw in crown watches. Thanks! ![]()

I can't think of any reason why using the crown would damage your watch unless you manage to cross thread it while screwing it down. Your questions: I use the crown whenever needed to wind and set the watch. If you don't have a winder any automatic you have is going to stop if you are not wearing it. That's no problem. Of course if it sits for a number of years...:D The Blackwater crown should be pretty tight. I know some of my watches screw down crowns are a little more finicky than others. Take your time when screwing the crown down and never force anything.
