Hi Group, Know I don’t need to say “I love watches” on this site, because although I have not posted any of my daily watches or joined in any discussions I get a lot of joy out of reading and seeing yours. I have recently been strongly thinking about purchasing a RADO. I have looked on the RADO site and on many others and really like the DiaStar. I went to a few very reputable watch dealers in my area and have gotten very mixed reviews. Some have said that RADO was a wonderful watch that is of very good quality and others have said that they are junky and not worth the money. Whenever I search the internet for RADO information and reviews, mostly all I get is information about their materials and not about the quality of their automatic movements. I am a big guy with a large wrist and I remember trying on a DiaStar Original XL about a year ago and I remember it fitting really nice. This is the RADO I want to get. ![]() ![]() If any RADO owners could tell me about the quality and accuracy of the movements and how they like their RADOs I would really appreciate it. It is an expensive watch (for me) and I want to make sure it is worth it before I buy it. This watch is on E-Bay for $600. Is that a good price? Thanks for your help! Dane Morris County, NJ

The movements are ETA and of good quality. Rado is part of the Swatch Group as is ETA, Hamilton Watches, Omega, and etc.. That model has a crown that is easy to manipulate and a good bracelet. The big story is the case is almost scratch proof, or at least close to as hard as a diamond. We have different models from the one you asked about but they are all of similar design. ![]() The Titanium buckle is a nice touch ![]()

The Diastar is extremely well built, the watch case is made from Tungsten Carbide and is scratch-resistant,it was the first watch to use sapphire crystal and the original made it's debut in 1962. Here are the specifications: Gents 38.6 x 46.2mm 100 meters Water Resistant ETA 2836-2 / ETA 2836-2 COSC 25 Jewel Automatic 28,800 bhp (beat per hour) 40 hour Power Reserve The only part of this watch that is not made from tungsten carbide is the bracelet. It is made from 316 L Stainless Steel. There is however a Rado Diastar Automatic Chronograph with ETA 7750 COSC Automatic Movement.

I used to own an Original XL and thought it was a wonderful watch! It had very nice fit and finish and the tungsten bezel was outstanding. The heavy bracelet and unique touches like the faceted sapphire crystal and rotating anchor on the Rado logo make it a great value, IMHO. If you like the shape of the case I cannot recommend it highly enough! I may own another Rado one day, but probably in the smaller case size. The XL was just a bit big on my 7" wrist.
