I thought of giving the heads up on a new item that I have found in a local competitor store, in Vancouver. Of course, some of you may have heard or read about the new Seiko 5 Map Meter Watch. The neat thing about this watch is that the crown at the 9 o'clock position measures the distance on the map when dragged across the map and the inner rotating bezel gives you the co-ordinates. This eliminates the old way of using a compass and slide ruler to measure distances between Point A to Point B and all points beyond. The outer rotating bezel acts as a compass. First time ya had seen one huh Simon? :) Cool looking Seiko's. I almost started to buy one Spring of 2007 but went with something else. Still toy with getting one of those and a Seiko SNM037. Of the Mile Markers I like the SKZ223 blue dial, SKZ227 orange dial and the black dial SKZ231 just can't make up my mind. Has a fair sized 43mm case. And they use the 7S36 23 Jewels movement. Nice! ;)

I have to admit that this my first time in seeing the Seiko Map Meter Special Edition. Considering the fact, that I've just recently changed careers last week and I already sold a $825 Seiko Velatura Kinetic on Tues. and a $1,595 Citizen Promaster SST Limited Edition on Thurs. :D After doing some research on this watch, that this is a grey market product, please be reminded there is no warranty available in Canada for this watch. Aside from this the watch did feel solid and the price was around the $299 plus applicable taxes. The one that I've seen so far, was the black dial with the matching outer rotating bezel in stainless steel. Unfortunately, for myself I won't be selling this watch due to the fact that TIMECO only sells non-grey market products or authorized Limited Editions. My conclusion: If you have a budget around the $475 price range and don't mind the apect of having no warranty. This watch might fit your bill.
