88 oh my gosh and 40. Nick 130.....![]() I can see maybe I could go back up to 10 and operate from there. It's called the Teddy 120 day program. I was trying to think on a average of what I hang onto a time piece. Threres a chance I might have it for 120 days. Hey the Angler 3T LE I have owned, I think about 1 1/2 yr, that's a record for me. I'm really proud of myself on that mark.... ![]() I know there are some big time collectors here and you have my full respect. I'm just not a collector. I am a flipper. I'm in the 120 day flip program. I would start to think hmmm, I have not worn that one in a while..maybe I do not like it anymore...sell-sell-sell. I think I have 5 now and I have 2 in-coming.

I do have a habbit of giving some of the lower end ones away after awhile. B-day, X-mas and Grad gifts and such. ;)

I believe I have 68 plus a couple of little Seiko Military watches for the boys (and of course, their G-Shocks)...I actually started out with a couple of Rolex and Breitling but then got intrigued with the < $200 watches when I happened on TT one late night. Got started with a few Invicta until I realized that, for the most part the quality was not there. Then I switched to Seiko, which is a great brand....then I stretched to (for the most part) the < $1000 market with most being in the $400 to $600 range. A few notable exception like the DOXA which I traded to Tony and the Stowa Pro-Diver...and right now, I'm waiting to see the new Deboufre NAV GMT pricing...it is probably my next hit. When I look at my list, there are probably about 35 +/- that I would not sell and the same amount that I would. ![]()

I think this thing we have for timepieces is like a harmless disorder ;). It's also all about Motive, Means, and Opportunity. If one of these 3 is absent, the next watch will never happen. We all have different MOTIVES for collecting these babies of ours. Some, like me, want to pass on a part of ourselves to our sons via the watches we hand down or pass on. Or we also assemble watches to mark certain events in our lives, present and past. And that's me too. Some collect to define their lifestyle. Others do it for the pure fun of it. For sure, depending on our individual financial situations at various stages in our lives, the MEANS dictate the character of the on-going collection, as well as the pace of accumulation. The collector's/enthusiast's personality simply defines the width or depth of the choice of timepieces. OPPORTUNITY is closely linked to MEANS. The shorter the distance between these 2, the faster the MOTIVE is satisfied. And then the hunt for the next watch begins. I can't say how many watches I have but the highlight brands/flagships of my collection are quite noble. All my watches are pretty well-spread out and stored in 3 bank vaults among the countries I travel to frequently. It always gives me great joy to shake or crank those that I choose to wear for a certain period. Like many of you who have undergone lifestyle shifts, I am now beguiled and seduced by sportier watches in the 44mm to 48mm range. Anything below 40mm/42mm hardly ever sees the time of day. I guess Nabco and I feel the same about this. Even the underrated Seiko minor lines (S26/S36 movements) are catching my attention now. After all, the brand reminds me so much of my youth when tipsy, inebriated and generous uncles would slap their old reliable Seikos onto my wrist. In the end, we will all wrinkle, age and move on. We might even forget where our watches are. But meantime, we have fun while the sun shines. Nuff said.
