Was wondering what everyone thought on this subject??? Been seeing a lot of posts in the sales forums where people are requesting payment via PayPal as a gift to eliminate fees. I have done this when sending money to a family member or friend, however I'm pretty sure you give up any protection offered by PayPal when you do this....not so sure this is a good idea for a watch transaction unless you really know the person you are dealing with. Wondering if you use a credit card would you still have charge back rights with the bank??? Thoughts???

if you use a credit card you can still dispute the charges with that bank. Problem is it violates PP terms etc etc. so they will not protect you.. and in their shadier days, they would suspend your account for it.

This is a very pertinent question Nick. I think the best would be to contact PayPal to be 100% sure of their policy, even if the few times I had to call for account issues, I fell on a none competent person 3 times out of 5 ![]() I didn't know they were not charging fees when item or money is send with the mention of "gift"... For the credit card, I would think that you are still covered, like said Elemental but again, I THINK is not 100% accurate...

I think it's best not to put your self in the situation unless it is true. Trying to take such short cuts to save a few bucks can in the end cost you even more. I don't even bother with the gift option at all so that way never have to be concerned about it.

I absolutely would never do it and never request payment that way....it's just kind of weird that recently people have been putting it in their FS posts.....never remember seeing it before
