Hi 3T I've wanting to try a new brand I've never owned, definitely a diver and a boutique type brand, before like Kremke, Kobold... I've noticed the Kremke can be had gently used for a nice discount of the new price, which is good but also got me wondering about the brand. Why don't they keep their value up as much as others? The Kremke ''zilla seems to be a well built high specs diver and I love it's looks with the cool substantial bezel. What do you guys think of them? Are they worth the $1500-1600 price of admisssion or 1000+ used price? Are they well finished? Robust watches? They are Made in Germany with Swiss ETA I think. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. Brice

why would you buy a Kremke when you can buy a much better Kazimon for the same or even less with a higher grade eta, much lower production #'s and know for sure it is 100% German from someone living in Germany who can oversee QC without any outsourcing of components to HK?...![]()

Brice, I don't have the diver, but I do have the Kremke Valkyrie, the fleiger style watch. I bought it new. Fit and finish were flawless. I have spoken with Ian Kremke about the origin of parts and he assured me the watch IS German made. The case was made by Ficker, in their German plant. Based on Kremke's website, the movements are Swiss made, Top grade, ETA movements. That said, my Valkyrie, runs a little slow compared to other watches I have with ETA Top and Elabore grade movements. All-in-all, I think these watches are a great value. Good luck with your decision Brice. Last edited on Sat Jul 3rd, 2010 03:02 pm by Willieboy |

it was released by Fricker on WUS by Ernie that they have differentlevels of service depending on the customer...all German Fricker and then the Fricker with parts sourced out of China...so all Frickers are not alike as far as quality but for the most part Fricker is considered the best....below is a pic of the engine in the Subzilla....a gilded eta adjusted in 3 postions and then you have the Kazimon with elabore eta and anti-magnetic shroud in the second pic.... on the secondary market they can be had at a nice savings and the Kenzo Nautilus with only 47 made may be a future collectible since Kazimon had to stop production because Patek claimed the name "Nautilus"...I own every Kazi and have not had a problem one...also own the Dievas FliegerTimer which came before the Valkyre and at a nice price as well in comparison....the Benarus 1KM is also a nice alternative with the same case and build as the Eintausend....I believe they can be both had in the $1000. range right now for members...if it's the bezel design you like on the Sub than that would be your obvious choice Brice![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Oscar, we were posting at the same time. I wasn't contradicting you, as I didn't know you were posting your thoughts. P.S. I wish I had been around when Anders introduced the Fleiger-Timer. I would have jumped on it. Last edited on Sat Jul 3rd, 2010 03:59 pm by Willieboy |

I wasn't contradicting you, as I didn't know you were posting your thoughts.I didn't think you were Will?....it's just good to know that Fricker albeit considered one of the very best casemakers does offer lower end service per customer request as far as what they want to spend...there are just so many options in this price range that it is hard for most to decide and knowing what you are getting beforehand can save you some bucks and peace of mind imo ...as I said not all Fricker watches are created equal and that there is more to a watch than just the case... ![]() Fricker statement: First we make sure that all of our customers receive the requested qualitity and execusion of their cases and watches. In addition we manufacture individual feature for our customers in the highest quality for more than 30 years. We are working with the set plan. 1. creating 2. customer feedback 3. making technical drawings 4. customer feedback 5. finding and calculating the price of the case or watch 6. production 7. customer feedback 8. assembling and delivery To point 5: Here our customer can choose which quality with his features he requested. Some customers request the high end production of German quality and some customers request lower level quality depending on their markets. Naturally, we also buy some parts (for example gaskets, screws etc.) on the worldwide supplier market. So it is up to our customer to find his own quality price ratio. That means the price and quality structure is our customers' decision. We do not want to be put into the same pot with companies which are importing watches or cases and selling these as "Made in Germany". Best regards, Walter Fricker Dipl. Ing. CEO

Is there anything that Kazimon makes in the 44 to 45mm range to compare to the Kremke. Also who am I missing that uses the same bezel as the subzilla?

Brice, just to help you out amigo....I think both the Kobold and Kremke are ok and so are the Kazimon, the Artego and the Crux. Of course, all things equal, I think the ETA 2824 or 2824-2 is better than the Miyota at this stahe. Our passion for watches is for the pure passion and for the fun of having the watch itself.....considering the resale value, however hypothetical, is very far down my table of considerations. I generally buy for keeps. I guess what I am saying is simply this: buy it if you like it and if you are happy with it, then the value to you is high and in all likelihood you paid the right price for it. But just as a rough, very rough rule, a boutique brand with all the bells and whistles on steel on a 2824 or 2924-2 can only make my wallet listen if it doesn't breach the US$1,000 mark. Beyond that, historic and international brand value comes into the equation and then resale value is determined by all that the brand does. The market is always perfect. It may be brutal, but it's almost always perfect.

The Subzilla is a great watch. Everything on mine is top notch in the fit and finish. It is a very well made and very well q/c'd watch. I bought it for and use it when i go on long treks where i need a watch that is extremely tough and could take abuse. I have bashed the heck out of this thing on my trips and it still performs beuatifully. Ian Krmemke is also a great guy to deal with and provides top notch customer service. That said, compared to some other options out there, the subzilla does push the high end of the price range. I have never regretted or second guessed the $1200 i spent for mine and would not consider flipping it, but again you can get a similar watch in looks and quality for less. You may check out the Benarus 1km (as suggested before) or Sonic watch. I own both watches and both a steal for what you get for the money and are similar in looks and specs. (Benearus is the Fricker case, Sonic is that 2000m case you see around these days. Both are german made)

The Kremke's seem slightly over priced upfront, that might explain the steep dip in price on secondary market. From the replies so far, it seems that it is definitely in your best interest to buy a watch from a sponsor rather than someone who does not advertise here. That is the true sign of quality.
