OK Boys, I've done some study'n on the MK lineup and the Vantage is really doin some talk'n to me.....A few more beers and this key board may get me into trouble tonight!! ( the website says their in stock ) I don't see much on three tees about the MK II series. Any input would be appreciated.

I've seen a couple of these watches in person and even wore 2 or 3 on my wrist 2 weeks ago at an AD and they look really sturdy, are minimalist (they go straight to the point), and seem to have a good track record from what I can see from other forums.

My opinion is that they are hefty, well-made, very well-designed and heavy. Their price points seem to be higher than the usual same category watch and it could be a branding thing. I don't know exactly where they're made but I do know that Bill Yao is ok on CS, per the forums.

maybe you ought to put the beers down and try typing MK II into the 3T search engine...

hi all
Not been here for a long while mis you guys and girls.
Just saw this about the Vantage. I have one and it is GREAT. As the original Explorer was tough so is this Vantage. Had mine over two years now. Has always been a go to watch. Simple easy to read easy to set with just date.
Very sturdy and accurate as any watch I have had. I have a smaller wrist so this is the watch size I like. I do have the big divers but this size is CLASSIC. Got mine on the oyster bracelet. Love the watch. Hope this helps

Although about 4mm to 5mm larger than the Rolex Explorer, ZENO Explorer, et al, it is simply a design copy of the Rolex.  Don't get me wrong; I am  a big MKII fan, but this particular watch comes too close to a copy rather than an homage.

That said, screw the bracelet and put it on a brown crocodile strap! dog smile.gif

Thanks Fellas for the replies. Ken, do you know if your Zeno is still being made?

Thanks again,

Rod

I have the MKII LLRP and it's a great watch with terrific accuracy, e.g. +- one second in 24 hours.

Hey Willie, I really like your LLRP!! I've noticed a lot of Rolex owners also have the MK II's. I have a Submariner I've had for about 30 years and these seem to be as nice minus the prestige of the Rolex brand name. Do you have the stainless bracelet too?

Thanks for your reply, MK II has moved to the top of my watch want list.

Rod

I bought mine second hand, instant gratification...

If you look around you will find Bill is a consummate procrastinator (blame it on parts suppliers if it helps you to sleep at night) if you can spend the money and be content to wait two years for him to build you a watch you will be fine but if you don't like to wait choose another brand or buy second hand! His stuff is top notch though!

No bracelet for mine. I'm too cheap. At present it is mounted on a Di-Modell Chronissimo (sp?)and I really like the look.

Mine is a standard watch, not a custon and it took about two weeks to get it.

As usual, once I start looking at a new to me brand Willie comes along with a model more expensive I like more!!  homer3.gif  The Vantage I'd probably buy new but the LRRP I'd need buy used. I actually found one on TZ from a couple weeks ago today but was long gone. What I find interesting is my preference in watches are very simple. I have owned Speedmasters, Heuer Monzas, Tag Carreras and a few GMT's and have never kept them for long ( longer than 3 years ), the dials are just too busy. However, this classic design might be different.

Thanks for all your responses,

Rod

You can Google Windy City watches...Got mine with Miyota movement many years ago but they are still available and nicely made.  There used to be an ETA 2824-2 selection but it was 2 1/2 X the price.  The bracelet is not great, but on a brown strap the watch is beautiful....mind you, it is the size of the original Rollie:

http://www.chronometer.net/wrist.htm

It is near the bottom (about 8 watches from the bottom) on a very long page!

Zeno Explorer: new. Solid stainless steel throughout made by Zeno-Watch of Basel Switzerland.  Slate charcoal matt dial with silver applied numbers and markers.  This watch runs on the tough 21 jewel quick beat Myota movement. It is automatic and never needs winding. Features screw down crown.  Case dimensions are 35mm across the bezel and 13mm thick including the crystal. The steel  bracelet is a stainless steel solid link bracelet. The fit and finish on this watch is superb! Watch is  new, never worn.  It is complete with  Zeno box and papers.  This is a difficult watch to find. A watch like this for this price is unheard of.  A well made replica of the famous Rolex Explorer!

Value price: $100 (Back in stock after a long time!  Stock is limited)

I think I paid only $80 for mine.  CAUTION...it does have an acrylic crystal just like the original Rollie but scratches can easily be polished out...here's a review!
