I was doing a search on watches with wood casing, bezels, etc. and found this site. New to me, though I'm sure it's not new to most of the folks on this board. http://www.watchbuys.com/ In any event, this watch, the Otium Segue, caught my eye. What an intriguing design ... I admire the vision this designer had in creating this timepiece. "Segue is the Italian word for “it follows” and provides the clue to the inspiration for this watch. Designer Dirk Hillgruber created this watch to show the flow of time through the use of appearing and disappearing hour indicators. This effect is created by using a series of rotating dials and windows. To read the time on this watch, the minute is indicated by the small, short hand in the center of the dial which rotates in a normal circular 60 minute pattern. The hour is indicated by a small red hand which points to the correct hour within the 120 degree window. The outer dial is a highly polished mirror finish that takes on different colors depending upon the light conditions. The inner rotating dial is white with black windows to indicate the hours. Transparent crystals on front and back of the watch to reveal the beautifully finished and decorated automatic winding mechanical movement. Black leather strap with signed tang buckle. It is really different........ Something about it immediately made me think of the Jean Marcel Mystery pieces--heaven! :) Which, in turn, makes me think of Rick Kalina and TT and makes me sad. :(

This German watch, the Otium Segue, runs about $900 - not off the charts but I wouldn't be opposed to finding one discounted somewhere :D ... I have a list however (and the Off Road is at the top of that list). I heard of the Marcel Mystery watch (TT ..'natch') but I didn't get an opportunity to see one. I like it. Generally speaking, I'm not too keen on trendy. Like jewelry, I like a watch to stand the test of time. Wear it in 20 yrs. (God willing) and it still has that wow factor, still is stylish, makes a statement. Like the Locman ....25 yrs. later ,,, Check out the Otium site - I think Wing Liang would approve - very futuristic yet functional. Attached is the Otium Linear - not my cup of tea but I appreciate the design. Note the Sphaera - it offers 'unique' but is timeless at the same time. I can see the Sphaera in 20 yrs., not the Linear.
