I almost bought one of the those used but the deal felt weird.. the dude was selling it for a friend...

Ever been on Laguna Seca? Way cool. Rode a mountain bke race there which incorporated the corkscrew into the mountain bike course...

I started racing bikes on the west coast back in the early 80's. I raced the AMA for 2 years for Yamaha. I rode Leguna seca about 6 times for races, logged about 400 laps for testing. ran the willow course also. I rode the TZ 750 2 stroke. one of the meanest bikes in the world. When I moved east to nashville I rode the WERA circuit for a number of years. The cork screw is a 3 story drop of sheer terror at speed! You come up the front straight at about 155 mph, swing slightly right at the top, hammer the brakes back the ass end of the bike to the right and grab your twig and berries for the descent into hell.

I never had the "twig and berries" to ride competitively but I live on 14 acres so I spent a lot of time tearing up the dirt around here when I was young.

Thats the best way to learn how to ride on the street. Motocross is great for learning how to slide a road bike.I rode dirt bikes growing up and also did trials. I have a Yamaha 465 yz for the dirt. Nothing like tearing through fields and creeks, getting air, etc. I have 2 race prepped road bikes. The YZF750SP has been fully modified to 2006 specs. Hopefully I will ride it this year if the neck heals right. My mechanic squeezed 126hp and 56 ftpds of torque out of it on the dyno in october. considering it started at 106hp, thats pretty good. I also got the weight down to 395lbs. in race trim. set for the street it weighs 440lbs.

Are you referring to the Honda sl70 with the fuel tank in the frame spar? ugly bikes. I had a Hodaka 125 wombat combat, then went to the yamaha 400 single        thumper.

Look familiar, CJ??

Mine was like this:

CJ lived a block away. We each had fields a block off. The house I live in now was part of the trails we used to ride. We could go for speed on "Swan Club Trai" and would ride to "Frog Pond". Sadly all this is now developed...

They seemed cool at the time and were damn easy to ride with no clutch... I moved on to this and that was it for me and dirt bikes...

Mine was bright green though...
