Ok guys. I need your help making a decision between these two watches. I can't afford both so I am forced to choose. Any thoughts on which you think looks best and/or is the better investment? The Omega is going to run me about $400 more than the Oris. I'm prepared to spend what the Omega will cost but I'm not entirely convinced there is $400 difference between the two. Your input would be appreciated. Whatever I don't buy now will be on my short list in a black version.![]() ![]() Last edited on Fri Jun 29th, 2007 01:33 am by |

Yes both are great but I actually like the Oris better. Something about the sleek design of the case. :) I have the TT1 Titan on a rubber strap and love it. ;)

While I like Oris, they cut down on the amount of lume on the indices, and am not crazy about the polished bracelet. However, the Seamaster you are showing is the quartz version. If it were the chronometer, I would say go for the Omega. Otherwise, I would go for the Oris (with the modified SW200 automatic movement).... imho, of course... hand6.gif

Skipdawg, What is the lume like on your Oris? I understand that the lume on the Seamaster is very good.

I'm actually trying to add fewer automatics to my collection so the fact that the Oris is an automatic is a negative for me. I know the automatic Omega has more cache but that's not important to me as I plan to keep the watch. Is there a specific problem with the Oris movement?

There have been some problems with the stock SW200 movements that I have heard about in other watches - but Selitta seems to have corrected that. Am not sure what the modification Oris makes to the SW200, but perhaps one of our resident advisors can chime in on that one... If you prefer a quartz, then I would definitely go for the Omega. hand6.gif

The Oris looks great, but the Omega has a more classy look. It is also most likely very comfortable to wear. I can't say I'd put that much into a quartz watch, but then people do it every day in jewelry stores. I really do like the look of the Omega if you want a quartz movement. Hopefully it comes with a 3-5 year or better battery.

The LM-2 I just got has a new SW200 in it and so far is running +12 sec/day. It also hasnt shown any of the crown or winding issues (knock wood)... Skip, if your Oris is a newer one, it should have the ORIS 733/BASE SW200 movement?? Skipdawg wrote: Yea so far I've stayed away fron watches with the SW200.

Cool... that would be the 633/Base 2824-2 which they changed over from in early 2006 I believe. How is it running? Skipdawg wrote: Mine has the Eta 2824-2 inside :)
