3T,

I'm new to this watch collecting gig, but have purchased two Seiko automatics in recent months.  A PVD-coated Seiko 5 and the black Monster.  I love 'em both!

Now I need to know how to take care of them.  What is the best method for removing dried sweat, dust, and other foreign debris from my watches and bracelets?

Also, what is the preferred method for storing them?  I'm thinking about investing in a glass covered presentation box for my dresser.  Anything I should know before I buy?

Thanks

Welcome to 3T Glockhand6.gif below is a link to the watch cleaning discussion we have had recently and as far as storage a watch case is always a big help especially as your collection grows...so I would suggest buy one that is larger than what you may need at the momentcool10.gif

Cleaning: luke warm water & soap are great for the watch head. Windex helps as well. Furthermore I use a soft tooth brush to get into the nooks and crannies. Don't forget to rinse and to dry and to clean the crystal, I can recommend a 3M Scotchbrite microfiber cloth (great for a quick egrease cleaning as well). And my bracelets go into an ultrasonic cleaner with an Oxy clean solution, rinse & lube afterwards. :)

Storage: I have a two watch winder that doubles as a presentation box and outgrew that shortly after I first bought it. It's a good approach if you want to keep your watches wound, but in case the collection grows it has its limits plus at some point you should think about security of all the watches you have out in the open inside the box or winder.

Cheers

Matt
