Hi All, Relative newb to this forum, but I recognize many of you from some others and to those I don’t… Nice to meetcha. Brief rant if you’ll allow. I’ve been calling around looking for a local watchmaker to regulate/adjust my two divers. I’ve gotten some local referrals. The good news is that there is no shortage of folks willing to educate me in how unwise it is to buy exotic brands and how the ETA 2824-2 running at +23sec per day is really “within specs.” I have heard over and over the pitfalls associated with opening the case back on a deep rated diver. I want a rock-star watchmaker. I want to walk into a watchmaker’s shop and find a kid with tattoos all over his arms and a ring through his nose who looks at my Enzo and says. “Whoa! I’ve been dying to work on one of those. Let’s see that bad boy!” Not some crusty old guy who is terrified to crack the case and hasn’t heard of a brand other than Rolex or Omega, etc. (no offense to those brands, BTW. I just can’t afford them). Maybe it’s me, but I honestly feel like they're looking for reasons to NOT work on the watches. I might be approaching the whole conversation the wrong way. Any thoughts appreciated and thanks for letting me vent. –Steve

Yea it is crazy out there. I have a local guy here who has told me if I ever had a watch that needs looking at and if he can't fix it he will help me find someone who can. It is cool when you find someone in the watch service who is actually a WIS also. :) I have seen many who are just there to work and earn a paycheck. No true desire to do the work or love for time pieces. :?

I'm sure I'll find "the one" and in fact have a couple of leads to run down next week. It's just frustrating. I suspect I have unrealistic expectations that others in the business are going to share my enthusiasm over this stuff. I imagine when they hear words like "regulate" "adjust" and "diver" for watches they don't sell, many probably default to "Cover My A$%" mode for fear of having some weenie come back and hold their feet to the fire over a scratch on the caseback or a seal that fails 5 months after the fact. I try to let them know that's not what I'm all about.... But I'll tell you. It's enough to make me want to take this hobby to the next level. Start reading up and buying specialized tools to be able to do some of this myself.

It doesnt take long to learn about and do it yourself ......I have learned so much from the guys here at 3T ...especially Eric A and Johnny P , two advisors that are live encyclopedia's on technical info ...just stick around and learn

* Enzo Mechana - EM001 - It's only 6 weeks old or so. Just running a bit hot. * Bernhardt Instruments - Binnacle - 200M auto diver (2824-2) - It's 2.5 years old. Was my daily wear till I got the EM001. It's been +11sec/day since I got it.

The Enzo is +23/day. Enzo was great. He was mortified and immediately offerred to take care of it on his dime. If it really is a quick and easy adjustment, I was just hoping to have it done locally as opposed to ship it back overseas. I hate not having it on my wrist. The Binnacle is +11. In the big picture, neither is really that bad. But, I also know those movements are capable of much better and are routinely tuned to well within COSC standards.
