Guys, need your thoughts on this.  This past weekend I was digging through some thing in the closet and found an old Citizen Aqualand that my Dad bought for himself in Singapore maybe 14 years ago or longer.  He came back and decided to give it to me for Christmas and of course I wore a lot.  Fast forward the dive strap is no longer there, the three batteries(I think) on the C022 movement are long dead.  The bezel has many nicks.

Should I send this watch back for service and new batteries and a seal and grab a strap?  The cost of the service would be more that the ask price on the bay for a new one one in better condition?

What to do...should I do it and then give to my son when he get a little older?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You cant put a price on sentimental value. Get 'er running and keep it as an heirloom. I assume your Dad is still alive, because from experience, I lost my Dad 17 years ago, you probably would not have asked the question:)

I'm with Tony on this one ... If you've got the money to spend, get it fixed up and keep it as an heirloom.

I agree with keeping the watch as an heirloom.

You can't put a price on that...if I still had the watch my Dad gave me, I would spend anything to repair it!

Definitely get it back in running order and pass it down to your son.  I have an old Tudor "Rose" wristwatch that my grandfather wore everyday until he passed away and I would never ever sell that thing, even though it is much too small for me to wear.  Like people above said, you cannot put a price on sentimentality!
