Okay, after seeing all these nice pieces that every has arriving...I know I'm a rogue here ;). I had been wanting an aviator style watch for awhile, and thought I'd try out a Timex to see how I like them. I know what some of you are thinking: "What ?!?! A Timex...why would he do that?" Heh heh...well, when the watch budget equals a dinner...that's how hand6.gif. And I like being able to read watches at night... So, found a used one with a Di Modell Rallye, and thought I'd try it. It has an interesting mix of polished and brushed surfaces. 100m WR, and an Indiglo dial (very nice for nighttime viewing/timing). In fact, there is a 'night mode' one can turn on, where any time a button is pushed (for instance, the start/stop or the reset pusher) it will light the dial for 2-3 seconds...very cool. The Indiglo turns out to be dark blue at night...easy on the dark-adjusted eyes. I wonder how they do that :?. It's also unusual for me (after being so used to dials and digitals) that the seconds hand is quite subtle. I'm so used to seeing sweeping seconds hands with lume tips or big digits counting away time :D. I kind of like having an option where I don't see the seconds and just see the hour/minute time. It has way more presence than I thought it would too. It's got a couple of light marks around the bezel...so I shall see how good I am at polishing tonight ;). And sorry about the 2nd pic. I was trying to show the blue color of the backlight. If you look at the image on your screen at a steep angle, you should be able to see the blue color. I know, I know...I need improvment :P. ![]() ![]() Last edited on Mon Jun 16th, 2008 10:45 am by Topher1556 |

Way cool topher! Have fun with it and enjoy! Being a WIS has nothing to do with budgets - its all about the fun factor. Congrats and happy button-pushing. Hey - I like the Casio Illuminator series too - great value from what I see. Might get one soon, when the strap-fest I am on slows down... There is something to be said for getting a bargain, good sir! And let us know what you use to do the polishing and how it works out! Cheers - IanM hand6.gif

The blue is nice! I have the cream-dialed version of that piece; it keeps very good time. The dark-brown factory strap was as soft as butter out of the box! Have you seen any TX-brand watches? If you have not, do a search and you'll see some awesome timepieces. TX is the "high-end" label of Timex.
