You rarely here about "gold-filled" these days with the chintzy 3 to 10 microns of gold electroplating which constantly wears off. Gold filled standard used to require a minimum of 1/20 inch (or, I believe, 70 microns) of gold so that it would not wear through...in fact, it was difficult to scratch through to the base metal which was usually Sterling Silver!

Thank you all, for the kind comments. Once I have the other timepieces in order I will definitely post them together. For a more correct period look,I might replace the stretch bracelet on the Mido with the aftermarket 1940's style leather strap that came with the watch. Cheers, Simon
