Hi everyone! I’ve been a member for a while, but it’s taken me this long to post my Intro because I've been too chicken!! I have to admit when I first joined, I had no idea this forum was made of such a high percentage of men, or so it seemed. In fact at first, I was terrified that someone would find out I was a woman! (until recently when I changed my avatar and posted my pic.) As time went on, I found more and more feminine usernames, so I know there are more of us here. And the more posts I read, the more comfortable I felt. Everyone here is so friendly! I first began collecting almost five years ago when I started watching a TV watch show, hosted by our own TT. Little by little I started becoming intrigued by the nuances of what makes a watch “tick”! I became fascinated by the cool complications that unfortunately, are generally found only in men’s watches. Although they still mesmerize me, and I do have a few, the majority of my watches are women's. I do appreciate the aesthetics, very much, but they don’t have those awesome complications I’m almost envious of. I understand that ladies’ watches, having smaller movements, make them much more difficult to build. Plus, the market is much more limited as well. Maybe one day ... ahhh, to dream! Anyway, if any of you guys have any questions or need advice on women’s watches, preferences, etc. please feel free to ask at any time. I’m always happy to help. I’d like to close with a special note to the rest of the fairer sex members – I encourage you to please join me and post your Intros. Since “coming out of the gender closet”, so to speak, by posting my pic in the “Putting a face to the member” thread in the OT forum and changing my avatar, I received several warm PMs from some very nice and encouraging members. The guys here are awesome! (but you already know that!) So please join me so I don’t feel so lonely!!!

Aloy...welcome (again) to 3T! As far as "men's" watches, there are many that may be considered as mid size and fashionable for women. I have a few that are in the under 38mm range including one of my favorites, the Movado Kingmatic Chronograph: Here is a great Stovard-Jurgensen...my wife wears one exactly like this with Roman Numerals and gets many compliments: ![]() And, of course, the Seiko Spirit with the "hacking/winding" 6R15 movement and the Seiko5 Military: ![]() ![]() And let's not forget the ZENO Explorer! ![]()

Hi Aloy, You should try some of the men's watches, my wife's wrist is maybe 6 inches and she is now saying that 40mm watches are too small...go figure. When she first wanted to try the larger watches i purchased a couple from TT on SAH knowing if they didn't work out we could return them.....she kept every one. Her friends are now going large too!!

Welcome aloy! Watch collecting has become a non-gender specific hobby, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to find more women here. Besides, I don't know why an attractive such as yourself would want to hide anyway;):D.

Thanks so much everyone for the warm welcomes, and the input! (and the great pics too, Ken!) ;) :) The men's watches I do have are mid-size. Most of them measure under 38mm without the crown. Nabco, your wife and I have something in common - we both have 6 inch wrists! So any larger watch I do get, I have to have on a strap. A bracelet is just too heavy and uncomfortable. :( So Ken and Nabco, let me ask a blonde question here, LOL! ;) Are you saying that it's fashionable for women to wear masculine looking watches, or larger watches in general or both? I'm afraid that if I wear a masculine looking watch in public people will think I'm well, "butch". Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that I'm a girly girl, if you know what I mean. I even once thought I'd wear a women's watch on one wrist and a men's watch on the other, but then I thought that might really confuse them, LOL! SHADY, I think a Panerai would be waaay too big, but you look really awesome tickling those ivories! ;) :) Huck, you're the best! ;) :) Murph, I think I'm blushing!!! ;)

From what I've been reading in some of the watch magazines, it does seem that the trend is for women to wear bigger or watches designed for men. I believe there are some company's catering to this trend in womens watches, but recall who right now. I also know that IW magazine has started putting out a mag catering specifically to women. I know the question was directed at others, but felt I had something to contribute.

I can tell you based on my wife's experience with her friends that it is without a doubt the trend... I'll see if I can get her to do some wrist shots.

Welcome, aloy! I can tell you all the women at my office wear "men's" watches, even 40+mm. Seems that's the fashion. If you see a style you like, go for it!

Welcome and glad you are out of the closet. Don't limit yourself to just women's watches. It is definitely the trend for women to be wearing large men's watches. I think it looks great. You see anything you like, go for it. We'll always love seeing you in a nice watch be it men's or lady's. Glad to have you at 3T!:D
