Thanks Mike...

Yes, there some disadvantages and advantages:)  I really had a bad experienced on shovelling snow in DC and I hate that!!!

For the first two years I will be travelling/relocated to different states in the U.S. so I won't only be staying in L.A.

Seeing as how you mentioned Phoenix, I can tell you we are catching up fast with LA on all of your points above. The smog here is terrible lately, traffic is at a standstill after 3 PM on the 101 highway and there is crime on the local news every night. Las Vegas and the Phoenix area are two of the fastest growing cities in the country. Its nuts.

Yeah, I moved from there back in '97. Don't really miss it, except in the winter. Unfortunately, that's also when the smog is the worst! My sister and family are in Chandler, still have friends in Tempe, but not really all that anxious to visit for longer than a day or so.

I do have to admit I miss Somburros restaurant on Mill and Baseline, used to eat there a few nights a week. Great messican take out!

I would actually move back to the old Pueblo. Lived there for 3 years, loved it! My wife wouldn't move there though, she thinks there's too much crime (although most places do, compared to Duluth).

I lived over around Orange Grove and Thornydale, liked that part of town. Used to work at the First Interstate Bank at Oracle and Orange Grove.

Have to say I miss that town of everywhere in AZ I lived. I also went to U of A for a couple years, go Cats!

The crime statistic is high, but when analyzed, it is all in South Tucson which is a highly concentrated area.  The crime throughout the rest of the area is lower than the norm.

Way west-side.............I doubt if you would recognize those areas any more!

I was down there back in 2001 for a quick visit, and you're right, it's all changed. All new construction. I suppose when you're surrounded by mountains, you have to go where's there's still flat land.

As far as the crime goes, I would agree completely. I hadn't really thought about it myself, I'll have to throw that stat out to the wife if we ever start discussing relocation again.

Who knows, maybe then we'll finally meet. What do you say to pizza and beers at Z's pizza?
