I have a pretty basic question about what might be considered "standard wrist size". My wrist where I wear my watches is about 8-8.5" around, depending how snug I pull the tape measure. Is there a standard among manufacturers which they use for their bands/bracelets? My worry is that I have purchased watches in the past and have had to wear the band in the "last hole", or in the case of a bracelet, fully extended in adjustment, and they were still snug. Thanks in advance for your input. Maybe I should get a poll going as to the wrist size of the members?

Hi! You wrist is quite large. The standard size for straps (excluding buckle) is 19 cm/7.5". With the watch case it reaches approx. 24 cm/9.4". It means that you only have 1" to play with. That's really short. The only solution is to get extra long straps (22 cm/9.7"). They are quite easy to find (or similar shops). Mine is 19.5cm/7.7", by the way.

I have an 8 inch wrist, and people tell me that it is big. Alot of standard rubber straps are just a bit tight on my wrist. I like my Zeno Pepsi Diver because it has a great long strap. Most bracelets I have have all the links. I had to get 2 additional links for my 45mm Omega PO. I don't think there is a standard size, but I would have to say your wrist sounds big.

I have found it to very from one watch maker to the next really. Many watch vendors will provide extra links for a price and some at no cost just depends on who it is. And as stated there are many who make extra long straps in many materials. ;)

in an article I read in Watchtimes I seem to remember it stated that the watch manufacturers figured standard of 7.5 inches for the North American wrist and a little smaller for Asia markets

Whats standard nowadays for a strap? Asian market being what it is makes the standard pretty small for us Western larger wristed people, I have never bought a watch with a strap that fit until I bought my first Ennebi Fondaleyourock.gif, that was the very first strap that fit me, out of the box, I have a 9 1/4 inch wrist, so I have always been SOL with them fitting, including bracelets, part of the reason I started to build my own was because the standard seemed to be 115/65 to 125/75 and maybe the odd 135/85, anything larger just seemed to not exist.

Bloody hell Shane! You got me and I thought I had a large wrist at 9 inches. I have a Marina Militare,2 PAM homage skeletons and a custom PAM homage and the only straps I can use are XXL(145/95mm) from our friend Don Ginsler. I refuse to pay the huge prices for custom made straps. On the other hand I was on first name terms with the girls in spare parts at Seiko Australia as I bought all the spare links they had for various watches I own!!!!!!!!!!!
