Marathon watches are nice, however I don't have
a really big wrist.

The largest watch I can wear is 42 mm.

Thanks for the great pics.

What ever you decide, you will be happy. But just remember you have the bug. Just like the rest of us. So this purchase is just the tip of an ice-burg for ya. LOL  Wear those stowa's in good health. Try not to get to much gravy on them.

I have to smile every time I see that watch...what a huge chunk of metal.  It's like driving a monster truck down the road and everyone else is in Honda Civics.

Wearing the JSAR pretty much everyday, I must say even though it is BIG you at times forget its on your wrist but at the same time you just can't stop looking at this watch. It's just so nice and well made. I could go on.

Overall for the price it's well worth it. Also, owning many bands for this watch it's easy to change and makes it look classy also. (ie. leather bands, metal etc.)

Just out of curiosity about Marathon:

1) Do they still manufacture automatics?
2) What are the differences between a C-SAR and a J-SAR?
3) What is the retail price?

The only thing I know about Marathon is the fact, these are Government Issue Watches in both the U.S. and Canada.

Thanks to all of you who have kindly contributed to this post.

Sincerely,
Simon

Simon,

Marathon still manufacture automatic watches. Your looking in the price range for a GSAR around $600-700.

The C-SAR is a chronograph watch. ETA Valjoux 7750 Mechanical which will run you $2000 and the J-SAR is a JUMBO Search and rescue watch (quartz movement)that will run you $450.

C-SAR Simon_Leung wrote:

1. Yes they still make automatics.  The GSAR and SAR

2. CSAR is a chrono with a ETA Valjoux 7750 Mechanical Movement.   The JSAR is a quartz

3. I do not know retail on these but I know Don of Westcoastime (3T member) who sells Marathon watches, sells the JSAR for $450. and I think the CSAR goes for about $2200. or $2300.

They've just sold out of the GSAR around the $700 price range according to the website. Being patient as I am is always great to look at what is available online, rather than to go to retail and get ignored by the salesperson.
