I have seen a few of these in the last year, I know nothing about Orient or this model
Lay it out for me, please.

Thanks

Well I love both my Orients..so much that I'm getting another for Christmasparty.gif!  Traditionally they don't hack or have a winding option but solid and reliable.  I think they're a great buy for the money and their collection is getting cooler as time goes by. I like that line that  you've got posted but it's to big for my wrist:(.

Orient is partly owned by Seiko. That being said, they have their own movements and styles - there is no overlap between the two companies and no shared designs. Orient Star is their higher-end line and within that there is the Retro line of watches. The one in the link you included is supposed to recall the features of a motorcycle. You can see the tank and the fairing suggested by the plastic-looking pieces.

Orient watches usually have some nice features for the price you pay. Note that this watch has a Power Reserve complication for example. People love Orient watches. I personally find their styles to be somewhat over the top. The only one I ever purchased had folded links rather than solid, so it got returned. Each to their own...

I purchased this yellow Orient Semi-Skeleton Power Reserve model recently. It has a slightly different layout and a 21-jewel movement (as opposed the the 23-jewel in the one you are looking at). It is a great watch! I find myself wearing it quite a lot. It has a flat sapphire crystal (unusual for Orient) that is very nice. The movement is decorated much the same as the Star.

At 44mm it may not be HUCKY-sized, but is a damn good looking watch in person. Comes in yellow on a bracelet, or orange, black and blue on a strap.

Probably by now you've managed to seach out the history of Orient and I get the sense they're one of those less heard of gems for most folks.  I've never been disappointed with my Orients and I should also add I'm getting my wife one for christmas as well as myselfsubtlelaugh.gif.  I have a coworker that picked up an Orient Star as well and it's a great deal!  I've seen a couple intro line Orient 3 stars and they do have folded links and look a lot like seikos but mine are all solid and run great.  I should also add that the lume leaves a little to be desired on my current models-I don't know how it is with the Retro Line (maybe McWright can fill that in), but they are quite comfortable on my wrist.  I'm sure I've posted a pic or 2 by darn if I can find the nowmistake.gif
