I've recently become enamored with the Seastar 1000. Did a search here and didn't find much. It's been discontinued but a new model may be coming out this year (?). What are everyone's thoughts on the quality? Considering the specs, (ETA, sapphire, 300M) it seems like a pretty solid deal for around $300 - $400 used. I did find some negative opinions on other forums, mostly for loose bezels and crown thread stripping. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey wardog, I've been living with my Seastar 1000 for about a week and a half (worn it everyday since receiving it). Read some of the comments that you noted regarding bezels and stripped crowns prior to my purchase, but bought anyway. The bezel on my Seastar is absolutely rock solid (very precise 60 clicks). Because of what I had read on some watch forums about the crown, I've been fairly careful when screwing mine in (ie. I'm careful to make sure that I don't force or cross-thread when screwing the crown back in). The crown feels different than some of my other watches, but I haven't had any issues...it really almost screws itself in once you push the crown in to the inner-most position. I was fortunate enough to get the steel bracelet and rubber strap with mine, although so far it is living on the steel bracelet which I think looks fantastic. Bottom line, I really, really like my Seastar 1000 (unique designed bezel, domed inner AR coated sapphire crystal, unique brushed/polished case, nice "porthole" display caseback with 300m water resistance to boot, nice presence on the wrist). I plan to keep this one, and would recommend one without hesitation. You can see my initial impressions along with some pics of mine here under the New Arrivals section here at 3T (see link below): http://timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=16598&forum_id=2

Thanks Stew! Now I wonder why that didn't come up in my search, should have been right on top. ?? How is Colorado? Spent the last 16 years there, in the Golden area, now in Louisiana for the last 5 months. Miss it.

I've had mine for about 2 years and worn it often. I've never had any issues with it and enjoy it very much still. ;)

I can only echo Skip's sentiments. My Seastar has been one big pleasure all along. Built like a tank, accurate and attractive. And then a bargain on top of it all!yourock.gif

Hmmm...I'm not sure why it didn't come up on your search...agree it should have popped up right at the top. As you can see, the Seastar is well liked by many and a great value to boot!! Colorado is just great!!! My wife and I (and kids) are Colorado natives and simply love it here. We are just up the road a bit from the Golden area in Longmont. I bet that Louisiana is quite a change...I'm a wimp when it comes to that southern summer humidity (Colorado is just so dry throughout the year).

Bought mine used ... i believe from T3 ... and have been happy. Bezel is fine, nice and rugged. I would point out that the crystal is domed, which makes viewability not as great as I'd prefer (IMO), the lume is only so-so (in part because the markings are thinner than you might find on a Monster), and the band is a mix of brushed and polished and I find it a little blingier than I prefer (and I'd guess a hard core diver might also find that undesireable). Cheers!
