Hello everybody... I've always liked your advices, now it's my turn to ask one.. I've pretty much gotten a nice collection over the span of 3 years, most of them are quartz watches (nice ones ,,, BaliHai, Tissot, Hammy, and some Seiko automatics, I like each and everyone for a different reason.

In the past couple of months my mind was set on acquiring my favorite watch, an MKII Sea Fighter (recently been flirting with some Squales) that could be considered my "grail" but I recently saw, touched, and studied in detail an Omega Seamaster, i've always felt that they weren't near my league so I didn't even paid much attention to their price ranges..but I started checking the Sales threads here and on WUS and can see that they are not that far off to the posibility some of my collection and a few other stuff I could think of buying one for myself...

Now my question is... Are they really that great.. i could buy me 2 MKII's for what I would pay for an Omega..

What do you guys think??

Mate - thats a dilemma.

I like MKII watches, and my fave of theirs is the Stingray (with a red tipped second hand). Seafighters do nothing for me, personally, but I know they have a strong following and that their prices stay high on the secondary market for a good one.

Of the other two, the Omega will surprise you with its beautiful fit and finish, its accuracy, and the fact that others will recognise the brand instantly. I also think that the (new) Squale (red bezel lock) diver is beautiful - and pretty well priced for the exclusivity and build quality (thats a guess, cos I haven't held a new Squale in my hands yet, but the presumption is there...).

Answer to dilemma - try them all on, decide which is best for you, and keep saving to get all three!

Good luck with the search, and let us know what you decide!

I love my Seamaster; and I like some of the designs MK II has also. You should choose the one that suits you best. If that happens to be MK II- go for it.

Same dilemma here, but I have an incoming Seamaster, and I paid far less than what I thought I would.

If you spend enough hours in the sales forums and you act quick, you can get very good deals. For me as well, the Omega was new waters, so I did not want to go "full price" and pay more than what I did for my 4 most expensive watches combined, and potentially ending up less satisfied than with my previous watches.

If I love it as I think I will, great. If not, I can flip it fast w/o a major (or any) loss. The seller got twenty something PM's for buying the watch after I pulled the trigger...

Well I'll give you my opinion based on personal expereince as I own an MKII Stingray and an Omega Seamaster 2254.50. Let me preface my comments by stating I was a bit of an Omega hater after being largely unimpressed with some Speedmansters I had seen come through some friend collection.

I'll start with MKII and believe me this is purely my own opinion. Nice watch, great build quality, runs like a top. But there's a but... try as I might I can't say I have ever really bonded with this watch. I've had it on a custom RED12 strap, a polished Watchadoo and now a mesh. I haven't used the supplied rubber, but no matter what it isn't singing to me and it may just end up taking a hike out of my collection. I have to reiterate this is a great watch and this is purely me.

I have pre-coaxial Seamaster I finally picked up used. I love this watch in so may ways. Superb fit and finish, highly accurate and killer looks. One of the mainstays of my collection for certain and a go to watch.

I've never owned a MkII watch. I read nothing but great things but they are a bit to military-styled for my tastes. I DO own an Omega Seamaster and it is one of the few permanent pieces in my ever-changing collection. Just a great watch!

...same goes for my Speedy Moon. ThumbsUp02.gif

I'd start of with the Squale first because it's got a rich history and heritage, although now with new owners, but the tradition should be there. My research and PMs to other guys also shows that build quality is way up there. In short, it's a watch that will be a keeper.

Then, after a year, if you still really get drawn to the Omega, that would be a good time to shoot it down. Different look, different feel. Their co-axial escapements are technological coups, meaning they are tops.....Omega just wasn't good on marketing them....oh my.gif. One Omega I really would go for is the Ploprof. I held one in my hands a few days ago at the AD and Omega's anti-shark bracelet, as described by many WIS, is pace-setting with just the right kind of break on the wrist to accomodate hand movements.

In the end, you could end up with 2 good watches at best or, if the Omega doesn't appeal to you anymore, still retain the enviable Squale and still be a prudent WIS.

Hope this helps, amigo. Let us know what route you'll be taking on thishappy guy.gif

Tough choice... Bill does great work, but the recently-discontinued Seamaster is a classic!

Thanks for your opinion guys, I guess in this ever changing sickness you'll never settle for just 'one' watch... If I could i'd buy the three of them right now but truth be told,, i can'tmistake.gif..

I'll keep analizing what to do and tell you as soon as I decide...

thankyou.gif
