Greetings All,

Next week Tuesday I'll be taking the family on a little camping excursion which will last until Sunday. We've decided to step it up a notch, get off the ground and have rented a pop-up trailer so it won't be ultra primitive tent camping. At any rate, I feel like I need to take just one watch and have narrowed it down to two in my mind. Please help me decide.

Choice #1:  Traser Unterwasser

Pros:

Tubes Baby!! Should work well in low light conditions.

WR. No need to think twice about getting this one wet.

Durability/Beater. This watch can take a pounding and I am not gonna spaz should I inadvertently destroy it.

Orange!!

On so comfortable rubber!

Cons:

Quartz... I mean, what if the battery decides to croak on day two?

Choice #2:  Fortis B-42 Marinemaster

Pros:

Lume dial should serve me well on low light conditions.

WR. No need to think twice about getting this one wet.

Durability. This is one hardcore mother that will accept some punishment.

Automatic. Should keep on tickin'.

Bracelet. Comfortable and solid.

Day/Date... should I lose track of the days or daze as it may be...

Just plain bitchin'...

Cons:

Simply put... what if I mar this beauty?? I mean, I might just put my hand in a fire or be attacked by vicious racoons...

So I ask your help my Wis brothas and sistas... What do you think? I've made this a poll so you can give your opinion easily. Thanks for taking a look and helping me out. Any and all comments are appreciated and if you know my collection please feel free to chime in any other suggestions!!

option 1: put a new battery in the Traser before leaving...great watch for outdoors!:dude:

option 2: take them both for no man should be in the woods with his family and only 1 watch for an entire week....think of it as a safety measure!:D

now add a 3rd option to your poll which would include both, you know what kind of WIS we are!:P

I picked the Traser. When I go "out in the field" I wear my Marathon GSAR. Quartz, good lume, brushed case.

I would cry if I scratched that beautiful Fortis.

Paxman, I would go for option #1 cuz I wouldn't wear my Fortis out in woods.

Option #4 - I wouldn't mind wearing something digital like casio pathfinder or suunto.

Or the ultimate option- Option #5- go all out with Breitling emergency.. You can always beacon in for help.

I tried #5 on my future Mrs. on before our latest trip to Alaska.  "You know...  it would be great if I wore a Breitling Emergency...  In case something happend to us, I can always call for help.."  Her response after rolling her eyes.. "i'm not even going to respond to that"

Your better half's response to your probing is CLASSIC!!

Second time I've heard mention of a digital type beater. Truth be told, I don't have one except for a puny little waveceptor that would either melt or get wet... Could be a hole in my collection but one I'm not so inclined to jump on for whatever reason.

Protective of the Fortis?!? I wanna believe this thing is a tank...

A Breitling Emergency... I like your style baby!! I'll go right out and grab one! Oops!! Need a couple of bucks and a two hour drive to the nearest AD...

YEAH.. SHE KEEPS ME STRAIGHT..  ALTHOUGH IT WOULD BE GREAT IF I CAN ADD AN EMERGENCY TO MY COLLECTION...  toon1.gif

I DON'T HAVE ONE EITHER AND I WAS THINKING THE SAME..  I WAS LOOKING AT PATHFINDER OR SUUNTO JUST FOR THIS PURPOSE..  IF I KEEP HOLDING OUT LONGER FOR EMERGENCY...  (YEAH RIGHT, $200 VS $5000, I BETTER KEEP DREAMING..)  ALSO, SPENDING $5K ON EMERGENCY, IT WOULD BE IN MY POCKET THE WHOLE TIME. mistake.gif

I AGREE.  FORTIS IS A TANK BUT I WOULD WEAR MY SINN 757 BEFORE FORTIS FOR THIS PURPOSE.

EMERGENCY IS MY NEXT LOVE!  THIS WAT IS SO SWEET!  ONE OF THE LOCAL ADS HAS ONE..  NOW, I CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT ANYMORE...

I would go for option #1 - the likelihood for the battery to die is extremely remote and you'd know ahead of time since most good quartz watches have the "two second tick" when the battery is low.

yourock.gifwoohoo.gifHey that Fortis looks Bad to the bone, but what if you ding it up.  Just put the new battery in Traser.  This occasion, is the perfect time to use the Traser.
