Try setting the GMT hand on the 2893 without hacking the seconds hand... Ok. Got out my Zeno GMT and set the 24-hour hand. Seconds hand continues to rotate while I do it. Not sure this is what you mean.

Again i am not saying the Rolex is not a nice watch or trying to insult/offend anyone, I just think the Steinhart is super nice for the $ and from the outside looks real well finished even compared side by side with the Rolex. I don't know inside the case to even try to compare them further. I am no expert. But for me the Steinhart is super nice and the 2893 has always been good to me, even in myHami. I believe with the Rolex movement you can set the 24-hour hand in either direction for quicker changes. The 2893 won't do that. Added: Or, maybe it is the 12 hour hand you can do that with.:)

maybe this will help, it's been a while since I played with all three gmt movements at the same time. from a wus post.. With the Rolex GMT II and Omega GMT movements the 12hr hand adjusts in one hour increments without adjusting anything else (except the date) and without stopping the watch—i.e., it keeps running w/o hacking, is that the correct way to say it? With watches based on the ETA 2893-2 movement, when you want to adjust the 12hr hand, the watch stops and the minute and 24 hr hands adjust with it. The 24 hr hand adjusts in one hour increments independently. It seems the latter type GMT set-up is the most common vs. the Rolex/Omega set-up. There are of course some GMT/UTC watches in which the 24hr hand and 12 hr hand are always linked (Night Train) and don't keep time in two time zones or in which they are not independent, but you can turn the 24 hr. bezel for a second time zone. The purists would argue that the Rolex/Omega gmt adjustment is the "correct" way to adjust a GMT but honestly I have never thought the eta method was really a problem, especially with a rotating bezel.

Setting the GMT Master II The winding stem has four positions. Position 0: Crown screwed down (default position). Position 1: Crown unscrewed and just free of the screw threads (for hand-winding). Position 2: Crown pulled to first notch (makes the H hand move by +/- 1 hour; this does not impact S, M or B.) Position 3: Crown pulled to second notch (the watch stops, and you can advance M [with H and T hands] as you see fit). For more: http://www.koniaris.com/rolex/
