been collecting subs for a tudor snowflake project, still haven't found what I'm looking for but I figured I would post a picture of them just for fun!

The blue one was way more work than it was worth, it shipped with the wrong bracelet and the dead giveaway it's an unbranded replica: it needs the datewheel overlay installed since replicas imitate the smaller diameter date wheel of the rolex movements. This required sanding down the 2836 datewheel as thin as possible and then gluing the overlay on and aligning it with the datewheel hole in the dial...

It's not really that hard to do but I don't really need an "homage" to be that close to the real thing... For $76.00 shipped it was a fun distraction from all my other watch projects that are being troublemakers!

The Sandoz doesn't really need any introduction and the vintage sub has a ETA 2878 installed and no dial and hands yet so it's just there for the edge shot!

You can see the tudor dial and hands in the background, it's "refinished" which is Chinese for counterfeit subtlelaugh.gif But it is a vintage singer dial so it's possible it really is a tudor dial and maybe even is a snowflake dial...

There doesn't seem to be anyone making a decent ETA snowflake homage, the only one I can find is from some vaporware watch company called Orange Watch Company, they seem to be hiding in the fringe forums and nobody seems to actually have one of their watches and they don't answer emails so I'm guessing their story isn't going to end well.
It's starting to look like I may have to have a decent ETA snowflake homage made just to get one for myself!

I have an Orange Milsub (although not the snowflake). It is a nice watch and Dan is a nice guy to deal with. Although he tends to be very disorganized so hence the troubles getting a hold of him. Watch is a 40mm but plays like a 42mm on my big 9" wrist.

You know I just woke up one day and like a light going on in my head I decided I just loved the tudor snowflake crap.gif

I have no idea where the itch came from but I just can't bear to spend 2k on a beat up old eta sub just cuz it says tudor so I am going to have to find a better solution!

Those watches are looking good. I wouldn't have the guts for a project like yours, Chris, but I like the watches anyway.ThumbsUp02.gif

As another possible idea, you could use a Seiko SKX031, this uses the same hands as the ETA movement. All you need then, is to get a dial, and if you don't mind the dial from Jake at DOT watchworks, you can get a chapter ring from him or Yobokies, if you don't have the hands, you could then get the hands from MCWWW... Then it is a matter of putting all the pieces together... Thumbsup3.gif

Sorry, I did not get that he only wanted ETA watches, but thought he was trying to make a good homage. The hands made for the ETA 28xx will fit any Seiko Automatic movement. So if he already has them, he can use them. The dial probably is also the same size which normally is around 28mm or 28.5mm. This can be installed on any movement, with some skills...

For that matter, he could even use the Orient Sub as that movement also uses the same hands and the dial can probably be adjusted to fit on it.

These would be quality homages too as they are pretty good watches... ThumbsUp02.gif

Just trying to open some more doors to the project with different options... If not interested at all, then sorry... But I think it is worth the thought. Thumbsup3.gif

FYI ....Chris/Oldecrow is a watchmaker and has worked on many a WIS watches including mods and repairs for members on many forums......I would kindly suggest you get acquainted with some of  knowledgeable WIS here by reading the forum and using the search engine ...hand6.gif

I have been inquiring about snowflake dials made for the Orient 100m since sapphire is available too it would indeed make an excellent classically sized and styled snowflake homage with a great value/dollar factor!

Still you would think it would be easy to build a snowflake eta homage and it really is proving difficult, the snowflake dial I have is only 26mm which is too small to just drop in a standard sub style case.... I'm really starting to worry a nice blue snowflake tudor will come along and I will have a weak moment and just buy it

There is a chinese brand called chronotac that has a decent looking china/miyota powered snowflake sub but it's hard to find.
