Marc (Island Watch) posted a promo thread for this 40mm beauty.  Since I have been lusting after Ball based on their classic design and Tritium tube sex appeal, I figured I'd get one of these and save myself a couple grand.  Heck, Traser is well know in the military/law enforcement community, it has a Swiss motor and comes from a great dealer.  Why not?

Speaking of Marc, fast shipment and great communication, as I expected! ThumbsUp02.gif

Some impressions:  Weight is 150 grams.  The brushed case measures 40mm across, 47mm lug-to-lug and is 12mm thick.
The bracelet is comfortable and it is very easy to remove links. Flat sapphire crystal (and, if you ask me, faint AR.)  The three year warranty that Marc mentions is dependent on you registering the watch at Traser's web site.  I did not find that this automatic model is listed on Traser's web site.

Simple presentation with a cool rubber tag:

Serial number is on the caseback. The cosmetic issue here is curious.  Perhaps these are NOS?  The 2824-2 Swiss movement:

Small tubes for markers (orange at 12) and tubes on all three hands for a total of 1 GBq of tritium:

The 6mm unsigned crown does not screw down.  Rather, the  watertight rating of the case seems to rely on a tight O-ring and a recess machined into the case may act as a guard.

The signed clasp has little room for my thumbnail and the primary latch is a difficult to engage (that is easily fixed).

The 40mm size appeals to me, what with my dainty wrist and all:

The money (lume) shot is not here.  The tubes must need some serious charging because as I type this, their glow is not exactly spectacular.  If I had a UV light, maybe I could force the issue, but alas, no such props in my studio!  Maybe later.

Congrats tommy_boy!!!

Nice classic look and a great deal to boot.thumbsup.gif

No need to worry about "charging" the tritium tubes, because they are self-powered and require no charging from another source...they glow continuously with the same intensity day or night (with a very slow decay over many, many, many years) and no amount of exposure to UV will charge them.

With the "tubes" you will not get that really intense initial glow that you get with regular and superluminova type lumes that rely on phosphorescence to glow after exposed to UV and solar exposure, but you will find that deep into the night the tubes will generally glow brighter and outlast the phosphorescent type lumes.  I have found that you generally have to give your eyes time to dark adapt to fully appreciate the "always-on" tritium lume...at least that is what I've experienced with tritium on Ball timepieces.

Enjoy this new Traser!

See, that's what's so great about this place.  I learn something every time I visit!

After a dark night in the closet, my Black Monster looked pretty pale next to the power of tritium!

Kinda grainy but it makes the point:

That's some serious lume given the short exposure time. Many photograph lume shots with 5 second exposures to give it a real strong bright look. Your tritium second hand indicates a very short exposure. Congrats on a nice watch.

Sure, I'm good with the warranty registration, thanks!

What I was unable to find on their site is  a listing for this exact watch.  I found a quartz version but not an automatic.

Ah, sorry about that. I thought you didn't know where/how to register. My bad, but congrats again! Mine should be in my hands the middle of next week.
