Hi there, Vostok Europe has just release a new version of the Rocket N1 with a chrono: ![]() ![]() I like the design. It seems to be a solid watch! This is the first quartz watch in the VE collection. It is also the first with a Japanese movement (Miyota OS22). Since the VE cases are made in China, we can consider it a totally Asian watch. I don't know if it's a clever move or not. The Vostok 2432 movement of my Lunokhod was not reliable at all. It didn't survive more than 2 years (it would stop randomly). Miyota has probably a better quality control.

Very Cool Eric!hand6.gif...I think we will be seeing more and more Asian movements and quartz as well with the climate surrounding Swiss automatics and rising costs ;)

I don't know guys... Anybody find it ironic that a watch with such a namesake would be now straight Asian?![]()

The guys over on a Russian watch forum were freaking out about this one. I personally don't have a problem with it, and glad that V-E used the OS22 instead of the OS10 which is used by a lot of other companies and isn't nearly as nice a movement. When these first came up, I made a comparison with a quintessential American watch company, Bulova. Bulova was made in the US, then started outsourcing for Swiss movements, and now is owned by Citizen. As long as they make a nice watch for the money I'll take a look. When I mentioned I owned a Poljot with an ETA 2824 there were some grumpy comments. It happens to be one of my favorite smaller divers and just looks "Russian" to me, but because it doesn't have a Russian movement it wasn't considered "pure". Oh well, I buy because I like, not for purity :P I just hope V-E fixed the screw down crown issue. I still am afraid to wear my Rocket auto too often since I already had to have the crown tube replaced once. Cheers, Griff

Moving to Japanese quartz is something totally unexpected for a company named "Vostok Europe" Personally I'm wondering why they didn't use a Poljot 3133 chrono. It seems to be a relatively cheap movement (I see it in watches in the $200-300 range) and it looks just great. Or is it also becoming a rare and expensive movement?
