ok so here's the predicament....i live in seoul. and have been browsing the local department store sites and came across a Grovana 300m diver....did more research on it and found that state side they go for about 350-500 smackers...however, over here i found them for between 300,000-330,000 Korean Won. Now with the state of the current economies at present, on both sides of the ocean, 300,000 won translates to about 207 US dollars.....seems ridiculous? check it out: http://www.lotte.com/lotte/sitemap/goods/LCCategoryGoods.jsp?curGoodsNo=7986158&curDispNo=044005002001070&orgDispNo=044005002001070&curDepth= now my problem is that i am going to get this watch, seems too good to pass up, but the girlfriend just doesn't get the whole watch thing....therefore she would definitely punch me in the face if she were to read this, or know that i bought another one. In any case i need a good excuse for why i have this watch, after i get it. the best thing i can think of is,"uuuuh yeah baby my parents got it for me for christmas, they sent it from america....".....that's it, that's the best i can come up with, it's pathetic i know.....I am generally a person who always follows the golden rule, but this time i think the golden rule can kiss my %#@....i feel like some kind of crack addict or something lol..... so, pass this watch up??? or go ahead and tell one itty bitty white lie, and end up feeling like a schmuck for a couple months??? your opinions please....keep in mind will most likely marry this girl and don't want too big of a white lie...... thank you...

I'm probably a bit older than you, but a few things, 1st dont start with the lies...next....will the expenditure cripple or cause distress in your budget??? Did you make any promises? did you agree not to buy any watches? are you both working towards a common goal and this would not allow you to keep your end of the bargain? If your cool with most of the above then lay out the deal like you did to us, she may see the value. Stress that this is your little hobby and it could be worse. Then if all else fails....remember...its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission ![]()

Hi Mario! :) You've got a frustrating dilemma there. I agree with SOME of what Tony is saying :P ! I rarely do this but I'm going to quote Shakespeare here - "O what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive." I know people who start out with white lies and as time goes on they get bigger, more complicated and so confusing that they are finally found out. It always seems to get back to the people being deceived and ends up in hurt. Your situation may be different. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with whatever you decide. :)

Tony Duronio wrote: Then if all else fails....remember...its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission ![]() Yes sorry Tony, I don't agree with this part at all. To me it reads that if she's not agreeable, go ahead and buy the watch anyway, and when she finds out and has been hurt and deceived, an apology will restore the trust and heal the hurt - but that's just my interpretation ... :)

I vote for honesty without volunteered disclosure. That is, go buy it, and IF she asks you about it, just say "I got a really good deal, couldn't pass it up" ;)
