It sports the Claro-Semag CL888. The movement is the weak point of the watch, IMHO. :(

Well I was certain it isn't using an ETA 2824 . I thought the sellita 200 is a pretty good movement. I thought the Clara Semag was largely asian. Is it Swiss? Swissian?

It's definetly powered by the Claro-Semag 888 which is owned and built by George.J Von Burg in his Swiss factory.....some of the parts are outrsourced from China but it is all done by Von Burg who's reputation among Swiss watchmakers is stellar....I have this movement in a few watches and it has been a good running movement without problems....no eta but a nice alternative and costs lesshand6.gif

Great watches though. I have the black dial. It has been one of my main go to watches the past two Spring and Summers. ;)

I've had a yellow one for a couple of years now without any problems and keeps great time. For the price point I can't complain.

I used to own the orange dialed version of this watch and the movement in it suffered from a few issues. The second hand would stutter while running and would jump ahead 5-7 seconds when the crown was pushed in after setting. WEEELLLL... I just bought another Oceanaire and am happy to report that the movement in this one seems to be working flawlessly. The sweep of the second hand is smooth and it hacks like it should. I'm very happy because I think the Oceanaire is a beautiful, unique watch and a relative bargain at the prices you can pick them up for! :)

I remember reading about that and at first it didn't bother me too much... but the second hand jumping so far forward after setting was too much. I'm happy to say that my new one does not display either of the above issues. ![]()

I own a few watches with the Claro888 and find it to be a great alternative in retrospect of what is going on with eta....there are many Swiss and Asian movements that suffer from the stutter or pause in the second hand and this is the most concise pictorial and educational post explaining the phenom I have seen....hand6.gif http://members.iinet.net.au/~fotoplot/invicta/invicta.html
