You might find dials who fit the 2893.2 ETA but who will not fit your Debaufré case... Exemple: Maybe your movement seat in a ring because the case is too big for it and your dial is much larger than your movement to fit your large case. I have the problem myself: I need a dial who's 28.5mm diameter for a 2801-2 because the 2824-2 is too thick to fit my case. Problem is that most of dials with pins on back who fit eta movements are not this size. Or them look don't fit my case.:? You can cut the back pins of a dial(if they don't fit an ETA) and stick or glue the dial on the movement but it's a cheap trick you may regret if it loose up: Not recommanded! You need to open your watch, take out the movement and dial, mesure your dial's diameter and thickness. From there, find a new dial who's similar in diameter and thickness. If the new dial is thicker than the original, your canon-pinion for the hands may be too short for it. Also even you use a longer pinion, at the end the all stuff(dial+movement) may be too thick to fit inside the case and the back lock of your case can come against the movement. At this moment , the all stuff is mounted but it don't fit:X Take your time to avoid those fittings problems;)

Stu, just my opinion, amigo.........but the easiest way to mod your dial is to stay with the dial BUT just have it simply re-worked, re-coated, re-colored, re-burled or have an expert do something to the original dial that wouldn't depart too much from its weight, thickness and overall dimension. As for the hands, I know what you mean and for this I think you may have more choices to simply just buy "off the rack" and get installed. For your Debaufre' GMT, I'd be partial to a set of plongeurs but you'd have to live with how the plongeurs interact with the GMT hand. Have you considered instead these other touches: 1) using a hard to find leather strap at the thickness and color that you've always wanted? 2) getting a buckle/s specially made with cut-outs of your favorite things like cut-outs of a .357, a Stuka, a tank, etc (i'm getting a few buckles with cut-outs of an Exocet, an old B-52 and a 1944 triangular bayonet....it's now a price game for me and the maker) 3) getting the entire case, crown and buckle/s zapped in DLC (this seems to be the fashion nowadays)......you still have the exact same basic watch but cloaked in stealth..... Again, that's just my opinion but that's the path I'd take.woohoo.gif

Hammer, WOW! I wouldn't have ever guessed that all those factors would go into changing a dial. Although, it does sound as if you learned the hard way. Thanks for the heads up. Rusty, After reading Hammer's post, your suggestions sound much more economical and practical. My biggest problem is trying to find a strap to fit my wrist (8.25 inches/21 mm). Most companies don't make straps long enough. As for the custom makers, some of them are "proud" of what they sell, and as it's been said before - "I ain't puttin' no $50 saddle on no two bit horse." Débaufré isn't a cheap watch, don't get me wrong, but to take and put a $100-200 strap on an ~$600 watch now makes it an $800 dollar watch. I would never wear it to work, and may or may not wear it too much at play because of the cost. Who knows, maybe I'll say WTF and jump in with both feet. It's just money, and you can't take it with you. Thanks, Stu

You're most welcome, Stu. You raise good points again. With regards the "$50 saddles...", I ordered great, robust leather straps 5mm and 6mm thick from one of our strap sponsors for less than $50 each. Priced at 1/3 to even 1/4 of the "luxury" strap brands, the straps have served me well. Maybe, they'll charge just a wee bit extra for your 8.5 inch wrists but it makes a difference and you can wear them to work. Try out just one strap, see how you adjust to it and it to you. In no time, you'll be getting more  .To me straps are like shoes too....I know of lots of guys who wear $300 to $400 shoes with $40 beat-up 501s..... and it works.
