Just to stir up the pot, how about this one for just $145.00 shipped? It has a 42mm case, 11mm thick - large like I like them and I like the classic, textured dial very much. I think it would look even better on a genuine alligator or croc black strap...but... that Titoni, for the same price is still tempting.

Out of the shortlist given it's #1 - the RT. Must look even better on a black strap.

About the others:

The watches on bracelet disqualify themselves - because strictly speaking a dress watch is on a leather strap (regardless what certain product placement in movies like 007 tries to teach us).

The Invicta - noooo, crown too flimsy and it's an Invicta. Picture looks like an awkward computer graphic.

The Seiko and the Bulova: Have no flair, no class, are - just 3-hand watches.

For further consideration, a short market research produced the 2 following, completely different watches (price and design):

Arbutus Automatic "Accolade" Rose Gold Dress Watch #AR0052MF $149.- @ IslandWatch (well inside your budget)

At 41 mm diameter nearly too large and 15 mm thickness actually too thick to be a dress watch, but this one somehow has class

Nomos Orion Alpha Black Sapphire Back NG-009 $1,560.- @ Watchbuys (far out of budget - but this would be my personal #1)

Just 35 mm diameter and only 6 mm thin - this is a true dress watch

Thank you, cnmark, for your analysis.  I agree 100% about the RT, but unless I sell a couple of watches, it is out of my budget for now.
Why couldn't one of the bracelets be replaced with a dressy black strap and then be considered a dress watch? The silver dial Titoni would look striking, I think, on a strap and the case is just 36mm (excluding crown). I do not know the thickness, but if you see the photo below, you can see that it is not very thick. I think it qualifies as a "dress watch."  Or is the dial still too busy to be considered a dress watch?  Who decides what a "dress watch" is anyway? What do others think?
(This is so much fun that I almost don't want to make a decision! Capisci?)

I like the Arbutus too.  Here are two others I found, again - to stir up the pot a bit...Both are Støvard Juergenson:

Støvard Juergenson Ref.406, round stainless steel housing with durable PVD! Gold plating. Diameter 37 mm silver finely guillochiertes dial; Breguet pointer; Sapphire cover glass; Mineral glass soil; gilded work ETA 28324-2 finely printed Arab numbers, water-protected.

Støvard Juergenson Ref.5458 Portugese men's watch; case: 40.5 mm, applied Arabic numbers, visible gilded stop watch work Eta 2892-2 with central second.

Considering a change to a strap - and the fact that the RT is out of budget:

Out of the original short list the Orient #6 with white dial in plain stainless, no duotone. Feeling a bit provocative today: The lugs and the barely matching endlinks of these bracelets actually suggest that these watches have been designed to be worn on a strap.

And the gold tone #7 Titoni Airmaster II is really worth a consideration. "In flesh" the gold tone of the Titoni is much better (warmer) than the greenish cast it has on the picture from Capitamall. Looks like that shot was done under neon light.

Obviously, one must choose the brand and model that one likes and which suits one's needs, but there is also the matter of quality vis a vis price point. The Titoni's pictured here are new but vintage stock models currently selling on eBay for just $99.00 + shipping.  The Orients are comparably priced.  I am under the impression that Titoni is at least a few pegs above Orient in terms of quality.  Or is this untrue. Orient has a 21 jewel Japanese automatic while Titoni features a 25 jewel Swiss automatic.  The Titoni would then be the better deal, no?  Thanks. You are all being very helpful.

Here's a beautifully restored solid 14k gold 1947 Hamilton "Brock" currently bid at $255.00 with less than 24 hours to go.

Hi Tom and thanks for your idea about going vintage. I actually took a look on eBay and found quite a few bargains for Omega and Gerard Perregaux. Here are some photos. How do you like them? (I prefer a round watch as you can tell.)
OMEGA:

GERARD PERREGAUX:
