With the SF pay increase that was enacted to keep them from going and working for outside security firms, trust me the ones you knew will be upgrading. It is just a matter of what they choose to spend the increase on.

I've heard the ex-SOF guys who do contractor work over in Afghanistan/Iraq/ETC favor the SUUNTO's, and G-Shocks. e.avery - Thats interesting, what you said about an SF pay increase to stop all the talent moving to PSC roles. Do you know if they really make it worth their while to stay in the service? I mean, from what i know (I'm no expert, but im fascinated by that whole PSC Industry), they'd have to give them a hefty increase!! Here's a buddy of mine who did a stint over in Afghanistan a few years ago when he was done with the service. Pretty sure he's wearing a Gshock... ![]()

They did give a very hefty increase to combat pay, many variables but close to 90% for some opperational environments. To pay a private operator $700 a pull, the multiple is 2 to 3 so you have to be charging $1400 to $2100 per operator. At that price you need to have a valuable package.

Not necessarily true...those that are responsible for mission coordination, response and execution are acutely aware of the need for not only accuracy, but also reliability. A good watch will save your life! I personally wore a Glycine Airman purchased at the PX for about $50.00....but then again, $50 was a lot of money back in 1964. It served me faithfully and is still keeping accurate time today!...and no, I was not a WIS back then!

It's good to hear the Military is doing whatever they can to keep those guys in, and stay competitive with the private sector. No matter what our service men and women get paid, they earn every penny!
