Hi all,

One of these days I will have to post a 'hello' in new members along with some shots of my watches but I wanted to post this right away and get some feedback.

I have recently ordered a few watches from SAH, one of them being an Armand Nicolet Arc Royal Power Reserve.  Well I picked it up from UPS last night, opened the box when I got home and immediately LOVED what I saw.  Since it was late, I figured I would set it this morning but being that I knew I was going to keep it, I snipped off the three tags attached to it.

So, this morning, I figured I would set it and even though there was no owners manual included in the watch box (not sure why...does SAH take them out if they are not an 'authorized' dealer?) I figured it it should be straight forward.  Unfortuntately, the crown/stem came all the way out!  Keep in mind that there wasn't any hard pull on my part.  I lightly pulled the crown out thinking it would stop in position but it didn't.

Needless to say, I am NOT happy about this, especially given the cost of the watch.  Maybe I am wrong but I don't think this should happen!  If it should, please set me straight!!!

After all of that, my question is simply, what should I do?  Send it back to SAH, even though I took the tags off?  Take it to a watch shop to see if it can be fixed?

I am totally bummed about this as I ordered it on 11/15 and just got it yesterday.  It looks incredible but it isn't worth anything if I can't even set it!  Even more annoying is the fact that this is the second watch I have ordered from SAH that has had a problem.

I have a Gevril Chelsea that I am sending to Gevril so they can fix the bracelet screws/pins since there were some problems when it was being resized at a local jewelry/watch store.  For some reason, they were having a hard time getting some of the screws out and can't get one of them back in.  Sigh...

As an aside, I believe that SAH has a solid reputation so maybe I have had bad luck on 2 of the 5 watches I have ordered from them.  It just seems odd that I have had these problems, especially given the Chelsea was $2k and the AN a little over $3k!

Never having had a problem with SAH, I can't truly address the situation, but they are a quality outfit, and a call should get you immediate response!   I know it is disappointing!

Did you call SAH/CS as this was not a sold out item and I am sure you could get an exchange....did you call the warrantier of the watch...mine all came with it stamped inside of the A.Nicolet paperwork/manual...all the paperwork came with the two I bought ....you can also pm Elayne Smith on this forum who is the CS at SAH....but either way why would you believe you are stuck with a watch you just bought?...if you push the crown and stem back into the crown tube gently it more than likely will lock back into place and all could be fine especially if the eta in that model has the pressure release for the crown stem rather than the screw dn.;)..btw the warranty is covered by New Dover Group 1-800-503-3448

I agree with you guys, I have purchased probably 10 or 12 watches from SAH, had a problem with one of them and they took care of it in the utmost professional manner.  I'll take this opportunity to give Elayne major props, the customer service at SAH is GREAT.

Just give them a call.

I do wish that my first post wasn't regarding an issue as I have enjoyed 'lurking' here over the past few months.  But I figured what better way to get some thoughts than posting where there seems to be knowledgable people?

I am sure you can understand the frustration of having ordered 5 watches from one place at a total cost of over $7.5k with 2 of them (1 at $2k and 1 at $3k) having problems.  When you buy a watch at that amount, do you expect anything less than very high quality?  I sincerely doubt it.

Maybe I should have contacted customer service first but I was hoping to temper my frustration with some unbiased feedback.  Maybe some of you would be more patient and understanding but unfortunately, my initial purchases haven't gone so well.  It isn't easy to be excited enough to spend that much money and remain pragmatic when the goods don't meet expectations!  :)

Now, most of what I have read before (as well as in this thread) has said that SAH has always been great to work with and thus, I must have just run into some bad luck.  I can attest to the friendliness of the CSRs I spoke with on a couple occasions that I did call them.

Therefore, I will need to contact them as suggested and see if there is any way I can exchange my Armand Nicolet as nothing I have done has resulted in the stem resetting properly.  Maybe I will also pursue exchanging the Chelsea instead of sending it to Gevril for work.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback.  I do have one more question that I hope you can help me with.  What paperwork should I have expected in the Armand Nicolet box?  I literally had NOTHING.  No warranty card, no owners manual, no sheets mentioning calibration, no anything.  There was nothing but the watch itself.

Should there be something more than that?

Thanks again for the feedback.  I will be sure to post something happier with some pictures soon enough!  :)

Jeff

Hey "FISH" call them up and tell them.  If they don't know, how can they correct it.  Give them a chance first to correct it. I'm in your corner bro, hope you get your manual.

I have PM'd Oagaspar as he mentioned but basically, his picture confirms something isn't right.  He received more than I did so I wonder if something was amiss when SAH received it from AN?  Below is what was sent to me.

As I mentioned to Oagaspar, I know it is odd that I didn't contact CS first and in hindsight, I should have instead of having my first posts come across as suspicious and with more frustration than needed to be.  My fault.

The reason I didn't is because when I ordered it on 11/15, during the show, Tim said everything ended up being sold out and so I figured there wasn't much I could do.  I didn't want to be hasty and return it for a refund since I really love the watch and so I was trying to look for feedback first.  Unfortunately, I think things came across poorly.

Sorry to all for that.  And I want to mention again that when I have contacted SAH on a couple other occasions they were very friendly and tried to help as much as possible.  I have ordered an Oceanaut Cordova as well as another Gevril (besides the Chelsea) and a Louis Bolle from them and haven't had any issues.  I thoroughly love watching 'The Watch Show' and anticipate buying more from them, as it seems I have simply run across some bad luck.

Thanks again to everyone for their feedback.

Jeff
