Please consider this post a warning to anyone who might consider purchasing a watch from Joern Gill who guys by the tag of “Rescue Diver” on many of the watch fora. I purchased a watch from him in September 2006. When the watch arrived, it was NOT as described. While he agreed to take the watch back and refund my money, he has not yet refunded my money and the watch was returned to him on October 4, 2006.

I saw his post on WUS and figured this would be a nice watch to get for my birthday. So, I made the purchase based on this post. http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=26960

You will note he has removed the picture from this post. To quote the sales post,

There are no scratches on the case back and sides and no scratches on the crystal as well. CONDITION IS MINT !!! The “dings” you see are little raindropsB-)”

When I received the watch, it was apparent the claim of “mint” was an exaggeration as the PVD coating had several dings and chips, as did the bezel of the watch. I might have lived with this but upon closer examination of the watch, it became apparent the crystal had been replaced or removed and the dial had several spots of discoloration, which almost appeared to be water damage.

I emailed Joern and he offered to take the watch back or refund a portion of my money. I decided I did not want this misrepresented watch and let him know I would be sending it back. Joern did not dispute my claim of misrepresentation or address the issues I found with the watch. He simply agreed to refund my PayPal upon receipt of the watch.

I sent the watch back the address he specified:

Arno's Tauchsport Shop
c./o. Jörn Gill
Ohlendamm 6
D-22926 Ahrensburg
Germany

He made certain I address it exactly as above and I assume this was being sent to his place of business. Here is where I made two mistakes, which have cost me $200. I did not request delivery confirmation and I sent the watch to an address he specified rather than the return address on the package. At the time, I felt I was dealing with an honorable trader and there would be no problem. I contacted Joern to tell him the watch was on its way back and that I would be expecting a PayPal credit.

I contacted the seller about two weeks later and was told he had not received the watch. Another two weeks and the same story but this time he told me it often took as long as 8 weeks for him to receive parcels from the U.S. On 12/1/2006, I asked again for my refund and have heard nothing back from this seller. During our emails back and forth, he alternated between being a wise ass and a friendly person. I now see he was dragging it out to get beyond the point at which I could file a PayPal dispute. No matter as my credit card company is now involved. I will most likely be out the $200, as I have no proof it was delivered to Joern.

This guy flips many watches and I believe he is unscrupulous to the core. I do not want to see anyone getting burned by Joern Gill. Any pretense of honor he has is a façade as he is clearly a person who will misrepresent what he is selling, take your money, receive the product back, and basically screw you.

Pax,

Sorry to hear about your troubles and loss.  Scum like that need to be dealt with and the best way is to inform as many WIS as possible thereby taking away at least part of their living.

Thanks for taking the time to let us know,

-Robert

I would strongly suggest you contact Ernie and other forums with this info and request that he be suspended/banned.  I have had this done at WUS in the past!

Pax,

Your reputation is spotless - it was clear from your post that the dirtbag was a dirtbag from the minute you opened the package and the watch was not what it was represented to be in the ad.

On a side note - WUS's Bad Guys forum has far fewer posts than it used to - whats up with that?

Thanks for bringing him up. I checked my old mail to make sure it was the same guy. I sold him a watch last year with the reverse trouble. He got a new watch from me, then told me the band was damaged and sent me pics of it. It wasn't even the same band! I told him to send the watch back. He refused, said if I sent him money for a band he would keep it. So I paypaled him just to end the crap he was spouting.
