Surprising... I would not be surprised that it would be a Chase case who had a movement replaced(home-made cheap repair) or a pure imitation. I don't think CD who take a risk like that: It's meaningless and destructive for them in fact. Swiss battery movements cost 4 peanuts![]()

Agreed. Like I said earlier, you should not hold a brand or watch maker responsible for something that is purchased second hand on ebay.

A shocking percentage of items sold on ebay these days are fake or counterfeit. You are correct, I have seen many people who bought HMTs so called mil issue watches from ebay complaining about genuineness of these watches. Most of these watches have painted dials and franked backs.

Yes, I can't count Omega watches where I noticed home-made Mil-dials with hand painted arrows to push up the value... I never buy a watch on the bay without seeing the movement in pictures: And I advise to do so! The only exeption is a newly bought Russian Diver: But as there's no case back(It's a one-piece case like the Mido Commander) it was never demounted to show the movement. We live in a world of cheaters and I guess that many are placing crapy mvts in good cases to resell the good mvt on the side or use it themself when it's still good! Also, when the Bretling quartz goes in the washing-machine and the mvt grill: Just take a chinese quartz and place it there, sell on the bay with case locked...VoilĂ !!! ![]()

(when they first came out) I NEVER watch the tv shows, EVER, SO i have no clue what they hawk and what they dont. And I know that most of the stuff they sell is overpriced. However, I still cant say enough good things about a 35 dollar Victa. STRICTLY as a beater though. Ive heard rumblings that Chase May be bad. I can not say good or bad about there customer service, What I can say with CERTAINTY though is this, How can you charge over 500 for a quartz watch that falls apart AND is embedded with a 3 dollars quartz movement. That is my issue (now, I didnt pay that for it, nor did I break the hundo mark. ) But retail is 5 bills. The movement inside it is WORSE than my quartz Zodiac. (post fossil) And I also have to say this, I speak from knowledge of only ONE type of watch of theirs, I couldnt tell you spit about the rest.

I don't know if I can go along with you on this one Oscar. I've seen ads for Chase-Durer watches in magazines like "Motor Trend" and similar years before I ever saw them on the shopping channel we all know and love. (Of course, I don't know if they ever appeared on the predecessor, VVTV.) I personally own two - one is their Strike Force GMT - Swiss made, Quartz, tritium tubes for luminescence. The other is a Starburst automatic on a leather strap - Selita movement, alligator strap and one of the nicest carbon fiber dials I've ever seen. The build quality is excellent and there are small touches like the large signed buckle on the Starburst strap that's notched out so that the buckle lays flat against the strap on your wrist that speak of forethought in design. I can say that the Wing is one of Chase Durer's lower priced pieces and I don't believe that Chase represents it as being Swiss Made. However, based on my experience, I must believe that the OP was unfortunately victimized by a bad eBay seller rather than a bad timepiece. JMHO. I based my opinion on the Abyss I owned...great looking watch but the overall build was cheap....no matter how I tried to size the bracelet it always had kinks in it and was unconfortable....secondary problem was when the minute hand crossed the hour it would always hang until it was given a tap...I sent it in and it was repaired prompltly but this again was a QC isuue....now this was considered their top of the line at the time at $1000. .....I finally sold it after some time and got $400. ....2 weeks later the guy I sold it to had it up FS.....the bracelet pins were like tiny wires that bent easily so my experience was that the watch was just cheap Asian even though it said Swiss Made we all know the HK factories that build these watches offer a "Swiss Made" service and I heard this from a very good source that they are built in HK....compared to other brands in the same price range I would say the CD was well below in build quality.... ...take away the value pays and most of you guys would not be buying these watches imo as you only have the 1st payment set on your mind as it is said over and over again so the brain only process' that 1st dollar amount and not the full price...outside of Slopnbc I have not seen these watches sold nor discussed as anything more than what I originally stated...there are much better watches in that price range imho....I agree the posters problem was with the seller and not the brand .hand6.gif http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=14101&forum_id=8&highlight=chase+durer

OK! Update, picked the watch back up from my watch guy today. 8 dollars, all included to fix, and it was NOT A chase problem. It was some hack that Almost destroyed the crown and stem and then left it hanging, sold it to a pawn shop, (PAWN SHOPS DONT GET MINT WATCHES?? WHo KNew!) ![]() So, all fixed, now. I AM going to stick to my guns, the movement is CHEAP. thats it. Retail Price on this Wing GMT is 375-575. I can do a swiss rhonda movement for that price if the fit and finish is ok, This is my second wing, I think the look is outstanding. its all solid, and all it needed was for the Crown and stem to be loved a little. Already switched out the strap to a carbon fiber and received 2 compliments within 30 minutes. (not from my watch guy, he laughs at my obession, thinks the movement is junk. I agree a little) But this from a guy who wears a 1970s quartz seiko. Here is a few pics of the watch in question. I think its got such a style all its own. IMO ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
