1. What does 9-eater mean? 2. I have a problem with my Seiko Military watch. I have a 6" wrist, and the strap that came with it is 7". Because of the way the holes are reinforced, no further ones are possible. I switched to a Swiss Army one--same problem. :( The smallest a NATO one goes is 6.5".....:( So, my question is this: What is your suggestion for a new strap? Do you think some kind of leather would look right? Frankly, I don't. I think the watch will lose its military look. I'm open to any and all opinions and suggestions. Please help; I luv my Military but cannot stand it sliding around my wrist, and I can't bear the thought of having to sell it. :( Thanks a lot..........T

Answer to question #1...see link..and go to the link on the sidebar for westcoastime and order a Zulu strap ..they have more holes and easily fit a 6in. wrist///same as a NATO only less hardware cool10.gif http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=4578&forum_id=1

I have no clue as to what a 9 eater is unles it is a golf term. As for your watch band question.How wide is the strap you are currently using? Have you looked at some of the speidel straps they sell at Wal mart? What about a fast wrap strap?Another alternative might be a regimental band from west coast time.My digital camo band from west coast time adjusts down so i can wrap it around three fingers my regimentals get as small as that too and are very nice..How about a plain black or green Military band from Military watch resource?($6;50 only) I hope these sugestions help. Here's what I would do to keep the look of the original that you like. Take the strap to a "leather shop" of a quality shoe maker. Have him remove the existing leather strip and put another on to meet your needs. Understand that the holes will need to be burned thru the nylon with a small hot nail so that the nylon fuses and does not unravel!

1. What does 9-eater mean? Nine eater refers to watches such as those that use the Unitas 6497 movement. The seconds dial is placed at the 9:00 position, hence the term 9-eater. A six eater would be a Unitas 6498 movement where the seconds sub dial is at the 6:00 position.

My armitron durasteel chrono style has sub dials at 12, 3 and 9 .It only eats half of each so maybe it is a 12 eater because half of 12 is 6 half of 9 is 4.5 and half of 3 is 1.5  totaling 12. I think the 9 eater refers to a watch with a register at the 9 o'clock position, like http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=4037&forum_id=8 As for the 6 inch wrist problem. I'd eat more pizza. Eventually, it will fit. (Just Kidding).
